Hi there, and welcome and/or welcome back!
How are you doing? I know that is something we usually say as a greeting without any follow up. It usually goes, “Hi, how are you?” “I’m good, thanks. You?” “I’m good too, thanks.” And then we leave it at that. But I genuinely want to know, and especially now. How are you doing? Do you need to talk? I am here. Not physically, because we have to social distance. But I am here if you want to send an email or direct message me. I know we don’t really know each other, but if you are checking out my website, we must have at least one thing in common.
One thing I’m guessing you and I both share in common is the fact that we find Disney (in all its many forms) very comforting. For me, I love the way Disney makes you feel as though everything is going to be okay. You can watch a Disney movie, and even though there are twists and turns and conflicts throughout, you know that there will always be a happy ending. Happy endings are not guaranteed in the real world, but Disney has a way of making everything seem possible.
So without further adieu, here are my Disney go-to’s during this pandemic:
- Music. I love Disney music (what’s not to love, right?)! Whether it is a sing-a-long or a peaceful piano medley or even firework soundtracks from Animal Kingdom, I love putting on my headphones and mellowing out. Check out my Disney Spotify Playlists here: https://mychronictravels.com/disney-spotify-playlists/
- TV Shows. You know what show has really been helping me? Kim Possible! I know it’s childish, but hear me out. It’s funny and weirdly relatable. And watching it as an adult, I am able to appreciate some of the jokes a lot more as well. If you have Disney Plus, the entire series plus the movie is on there. If you do not have Disney Plus, I would check out YouTube–they put a lot of clips on there that will crack you up!
- Artwork. Art can be very therapeutic and calming, and Disney art amplifies that even more so. There are a lot of great Disney art accounts on Instagram like @disney.art and @disney_art_feed that I love to scroll through.
- Food. Yes, even food! It seems all we do now when we are not working from home (if we are fortunate enough to work from home) is eat, sleep, and scroll through social media. Mix things up and get creative with your meals! Find recipes online to incorporate a little bit of Disney into your meals. I few months back, I went to a craft store that was going out of business, and I was able to pick up a Mickey Mouse shaped mini waffle iron. It honestly feels like mixing the magic of the parks with the comfort of home. Also! Disney is releasing a lot of their park recipes on their social media! Learn how to make churros!
That’s my list! That is how I am trying to remain at least a little bit sane during this time. If you have suggestions, or want to share how you stay sane, email mychronictravels@gmail.com.
