Hello, and welcome (or welcome back)!
I hope everyone is doing well and feeling safe, healthy, and happy 🙂
On this week’s blog, we are going to dive into ‘My Solo Travels’ Series: Part 2–The Booking.
Booking a trip. Idealistic to start. Painfully realistic during and after. At least for me, anyways.
My solo trip took place June 28th-July 2nd of 2019. Going to Disney during the summer seems like a psycho move because of crowds (we’ll get into that later) and pricing, but it actually ended up being okay.
Let me first start by saying that I am a big fan of price checking multiple websites before making a final decision. After all of my researching concluded, it ended up being Expedia that offered me the best pricing for hotel and flight. Or so I thought….
So I do enjoy using Expedia for my travel needs; I have used it for other trips before, and my bookings have been successful. And this time was no different, at least to some extent.
I was able to book my package deal of flight and hotel, and I was satisfied with the price (about $700 for 4 nights and 3 days). Now remember, this was during the summertime, which is peak vacation time for Florida in general, let alone for Disney. Which is why I never thought to look directly on Disney’s website to see what deals they were offering.
I don’t know what drew me to look, but I am so grateful that I did! It turns out that Disney was having a summer deal where the hotel rooms for the Value Resorts were only around $50 a night. Pair that with taxes and my flight from Expedia, and I was able to book the trip for around $600, which is $100 less than the package deal Expedia offered. Honestly, that’s a whole day’s worth of food for me at the parks! (I’m kidding…kinda lol).
I tell you all of this to say, “Try Everything,” even if you think it might be crazy. I never thought I could get the cheapest deal from Disney directly, but I did. Now this might not always be the case, but you should always make sure to check anyways. Who knows? You could end up with a steal!
That’s all I have for tonight. But the saga shall continue next week. Stay safe and stay magical!
Ashley, MCT
