‘My Solo Travels’ Series: Part 9a-Rides at Epcot

Hello, and welcome (or welcome back)!

I hope everyone is doing well and feeling safe, healthy, and happy :).

On this week’s blog, we are going to dive into ‘My Solo Travels’ Series: Part 9–Rides at Epcot.

The day I went to Epcot, it was already at least 85 degrees and humid at 9:30am. No joke. It was a hot day, but also an exciting day for me because Epcot has always been my favorite Disney World park out of the main 4. It is the park where my family and I would always go whenever we had a free day during our vacation to venture to Disney World.

Since I had been to Epcot so many times before, I was able to really take my time and soak everything in. The simple details that I would normally overlook, I actually took the time to admire and appreciate.

For this trip, I really spaced out my 3 fast passes so I had time to explore throughout the day. The first ride I went on was Soarin’—my favorite ride period. I was lucky enough to go when not a lot of people were there, so it was nice and calm. I got to sit in the first row, so I did not have to see any hanging feet (a rare treat). Throughout the duration of that ride, I just enjoyed being present. I think we all forget to do that nowadays, and not just at Disney, but everywhere. We are so consumed with social media and our phones that we forget to just be present and soak in the moment. Soarin’ is a trip around the world that only takes a few minutes, and it makes you feel as though you are on top of each continent. No matter who you are, or what your story is, you are just a person on a ride, soaring over the beauty of this planet.

My next fast pass was for Test Track. Test Track has been open on and off for the last few years due to repairs, but I was able to partake in the super fun and super fast ride. If you haven’t been on Test Track before, please keep in mind that this ride jerks around a lot and there is a portion that feels like a roller coaster as it whips around the above ground track. If you are prone to motion sickness (like I am), I would avoid eating any heavy meals before this ride. FYI…this fast pass fills up very quickly, so if you see it and you know you want to go on, grab it!

The last fast pass I had was for Spaceship Earth. See for me, the slower rides like ‘Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival,’ ‘Gran Fiesta Tour,’ ‘Journey Into Imagination,’ and ‘Living the Land’ are just as great as the faster ones. Rides like these give your body time to rejuvenate and relax. All the heat and humidity really took a toll on my body, and these calming indoor rides allowed me to rest for a few minutes at a time.

Disney World is only fun when you take care of yourself ❤

Until next time….

Stay safe and stay magical!

Ashley, MCT
