Hello, and welcome (or welcome back)!
I hope everyone is doing well and feeling safe, healthy, and happy :).
This week starts a new series where I spotlight 5 areas of Disney World in Florida and tell you my favorite things about them. I have been to Disney Springs, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom, but I have yet to venture to Hollywood Studios (I do plan on going very soon…). For ‘Hollywood Studios’ week, I will detail what I am looking most forward to about that park.
Let’s dive in!
If you have read my previous blog posts, you might already know that Epcot is my favorite park at Disney World. It is the park that my family and I go to every time we go to Disney, even if it is only for a one day trip. What are my favorite parts of Epcot? Well….
Food: The World Showcase offers a multitude of culinary options, for every age and every palette. Personally, I love venturing to the France pavilion for a crepe or a napoleon from the bakery.
Rides: Epcot has such thought-provoking and exciting rides. For me, going on a ride at Epcot is like having an outer-body experience. On one ride, I can be traveling across the world, and on another, I am literally time traveling. I truly love all of the rides at Epcot, but my favorite of all time is Soarin’. I could ride Soarin’ 10x in a row and never get bored. Another great feature about Epcot rides is that they are very accommodating for individuals with chronic illnesses. A lot of the rides at Epcot are slow moving rides you can chill out on in an air conditioned space. Very relaxing.
Shopping: Shopping in the World Showcase really feels like you are shopping in that country. My friend and I love going into the large shop in the Japan pavilion for unique and beautiful treasures. I strongly recommend going to Epcot during the Festival of the Arts in January/February. The art you can find there will blow you away.
Nighttime Entertainment: I am going to level with you. The nighttime shows at Disney World are my favorite part of the day. However, I am not a fan of Epcot’s newest nighttime show. IllumiNations was the show that ran for decades, and then closed for good in 2019. The new show, Epcot Forever, is now running in its place. Of course, all of the nighttime shows took a bow in 2020 due to the pandemic, but I am sure they will be up and running in no time.
My recommendation: You can spend an entire day at Epcot and still not see absolutely everything, there is just so much at the park to explore. My suggestion to you would be to get on your favorite rides at Future World during the early part of the day. Then, mid-day, take a little siesta. After you are all rested up, come back to Epcot to explore the World Showcase. Get some food, check out the different pavilions, do some shopping, and finish off the evening with some dessert.
That is my take on Epcot! Make sure to check back next week for my deep dive into Animal Kingdom!
Until next time….
Stay safe and stay magical!
Ashley, MCT
